Have your say on updated Hertsmere homelessness strategies

Last Modified September 13, 2024

You can have your say on our approach to tackling homelessness and rough sleeping in Hertsmere, with a consultation now open.

We are updating our strategy which will set out the way in which we will work to prevent homelessness and rough sleeping and support those who face, or are at risk of, becoming homeless.

To give your views on our draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, which is open until 24 October 2024, please go to the consultation page on our community engagement platform – it will only take a few minutes to complete the survey.

Before participating in the consultation, you can read the draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy which has been developed based on the findings of our Homelessness Review.

Cllr Alan Matthews, our Portfolio Holder for Housing and Housing Development, said: “As a council, we recognise the personal trauma of homelessness and rough sleeping, particularly with the cost-of-living crisis, and we’re committed to prevention and improving people’s lives.

“Reviewing and updating our strategy is about continuing the positive work already happening in the borough and further strengthening our wide-reaching partnership-working to support our most vulnerable residents, with an inclusive and collaborative approach vital in delivering positive outcomes for many people across the borough.

“I encourage anyone who lives or works in Hertsmere, who is concerned about homelessness and rough sleeping, to have their say.”

You also have the opportunity to give your views on our newly-developed Temporary Accommodation Procurement and Placement Policy, which you can do by emailing housing.strategy@hertsmere.gov.uk by 24 October 2024.
