Over 60s in Hertsmere received valuable advice and support at our Older Person’s Activity Learning and Safety event in Borehamwood earlier this month.
Representatives from Hertsmere Police, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Communities 1st, Age UK and more joined us at Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue on 7 November. The event featured stalls offering information and advice, speakers and a seated exercise taster session from Herts Sport and Physical Activity Partnership’s Live Longer Better team.
Attendees also received free refreshments and a Kosher lunch, as well as leaving with a 'Warm in Winter' gift bag provided by Small Acts of Kindness along with other goodies.
After attending the event, 81 per cent of the people said they will now be able to keep themselves safer.
Cllr Christian Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, said: “I am delighted we have such keen uptake of our Older Person’s Activity Learning and Safety events and that our attendees find it a useful resource to learn about safety.
“I'd like to thank all the residents who attended as well as the local organisations who helped to make this event such a success.”
