Your Tree Our Future has returned with thousands of trees available for Hertsmere residents.
The scheme allows residents to claim free trees chosen from eight species, which are suited to Hertfordshire’s geography and climate. You can claim up to five individual trees or a pack made up of 36 trees to form a hedgerow.
Tree planting is a great way to enhance our natural environment and tackle climate change by reducing carbon in the atmosphere. They also help tackle air pollution and have positive benefits for our physical and mental health.
Ian Kershaw, Head of Street Scene, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with neighbouring authorities and Hertfordshire County Council on the Your Tree Our Future initiative and I hope Hertsmere residents take advantage of the scheme to help create a greener Hertsmere.
“We are providing 7,000 trees to Hertsmere residents as part of the county-wide scheme this year. Trees are so important to improving air quality, increasing natural habitats for our wildlife and helping to combat environmental issues, which is why we have committed to this initiative. Each tree sapling planted locally will help in the fight against climate change and will benefit local biodiversity, as well as air quality, for years to come.”
The 7,000 trees available in Hertsmere will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you don’t manage to claim any trees this year, the scheme will be repeated in 2025.
