A new Community Enforcement Team is being deployed across Hertsmere to engage with residents and tackle community issues, such as anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.
Hertsmere Borough Council continues to prioritise the safety of people who live, work and commute in and across the borough.
Launching the new initiative, the council welcomes four Community Enforcement Officers who have been recruited in direct response to concerns from local residents and businesses.
The team will focus on areas where residents have raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and environmental crimes, and their role includes:
- Patrolling the borough to engage, educate and enforce.
- Providing support to members of the public and businesses when on patrol.
- Responding to reports of anti-social behaviour and environmental crime, such as fly tipping.
Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of the Council, said: "This innovative new team has been introduced in direct response to concerns from local residents and businesses. They will make a positive difference to life around here; actively tackling the things that matter most to our communities, such as anti-social behaviour and environmental crimes."
Cllr Christian Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, said: “We have established a Community Enforcement Team for our borough to put us in direct control of our communities’ needs. Our new officers will get to know local people, businesses and communities to understand the issues and how best to keep Hertsmere safe, together.
“Key will be the connections they build, working within and alongside our communities. Relationships we know people value the most; that solve local problems and have a positive impact on our residents.
“Our officers are a visible presence in Hertsmere; look out for their distinctive red uniforms on your streets.”
