The construction of 11 affordable homes, on a previously-derelict garage site in Borehamwood, has been finished – with the new properties now ready for people to move in.
Following completion, Hertsmere Developments Limited (HDL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Hertsmere Borough Council, has now sold the development in Eldon Avenue on to Hertsmere Living Limited (HLL).
HLL is the affordable stock holding company joint-venture between the borough council (HBC) and Watford Community Housing (WCH).
The homes have already started to be let, with the development having transformed a contaminated site into homes designed for families with a generous private patio or balcony, and all in the heart of Borehamwood.
Cllr Jeremy Newmark, Leader of the Council; Sajida Bijle, the Council’s Chief Executive; Tina Barnard, Chief Executive of WCH; Cllr Paul Hodgson-Jones, Chairman of HDL; and Cllr Prabhakar Kaza, who represents Borehamwood Kenilworth ward, were among those joined by HDL and HLL representatives for a tour of the development.
Cllr Paul Hodgson-Jones said: “This is the second site HDL have completed on time and on budget despite a challenging marketplace. HDL are continuing to deliver successfully and have exciting plans for our next two projects that will transform two under-utilised brownfield sites to provide more homes for Hertsmere.”
Josh Summers, HDL Director of Operations & Development, added: “This has been a most rewarding project, seeing the derelict site transformed into affordable homes for local people. Parrott have again constructed good quality homes for HDL and we are pleased to be passing these on to HLL for the long-term benefit of HBC.”
