Colleagues gathered this week to offer their warm wishes and congratulations to our longest-serving staff member, who has retired after an incredible 43 years with us
Sharon Richards first joined our council in 1982 as a technician in Building Control and has since progressed through a range of roles in the Planning team to Principal Planning Officer, undertaking professional qualifications including a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning along the way.
Last year, Sharon received a Civic Award from the Mayor of Hertsmere in recognition of her long service and commitment.
Reflecting on her long career, Executive Director Peter Geraghty, commented: “Throughout her very long career with us, Sharon’s commitment to Hertsmere and its residents has been undiminished, and she’s also been held in very high esteem by all her colleagues. She’s made an incredible contribution and I was delighted to join with her colleagues in wishing her well for her richly-deserved retirement.”
Sharon added: “I am grateful for the opportunities and encouragement I have had to progress in my profession over the years and have seen and adapted to huge changes in work practices during my time here. It was lovely to join with colleagues to celebrate this landmark moment, I will miss them all very much.”
