Member Champion for our Creative Strategy

Cllr Caroline Clapper, elected councillor for Aldenham West ward, who is passionate about supporting, promoting and growing creativity and cultural opportunities across the borough, is member champion for our Creative Strategy.

The role supports our efforts in supporting the creative industries in the borough, and the voluntary sector which does so much to encourage all our communities to harness opportunities to participate, explore and develop new skills and talents.

Member Champion for football

Cllr Harvey Cohen, elected member for Elstree ward, is appointed champion for the promotion of youth, women’s and men’s football at all levels across the borough and to all football-related matters and policies.

This role has been designed to identify opportunities and champion the delivery of support for the promotion and growth of the sport in Hertsmere.

There are also issues in the football community which need addressing, such as the lack of investment in women and girl’s football despite the increasing interest, the lack of accountability around racism and discrimination and lack of LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Member Champion for the housing of Afghan nationals

Cllr Meenal Sachdev, elected member for Bentley Heath and The Royds, is member champion for the housing of Afghan nationals and their families who have been granted permanent leave to remain in the UK.

She has more than 20 years’ experience of supporting and advocating for some of the most vulnerable communities across the UK and internationally. The role aims to ensure that these individuals and their families receive the support they deserve through a co-ordinated multi-agency effort.

Member Champion for the delivery of Hertsmere’s 50th anniversary

Cllr Marc Amron, elected member for Bushey Park ward, has been appointed to champion the delivery of Hertsmere’s 50th unique, vibrant and diverse anniversary celebrations.

Cllr Amron looks forward to helping to plan as well as attend many events, and looks forward to seeing our communities coming together to celebrate.

Member Champion for Violence Against Women and Girls

Cllr Louise Nicolas, elected councillor for Bushey North ward, has been appointed to raise awareness and champion action to prevent violence against women and girls.

The role has been designed to support the council’s efforts in addressing violence against women and girls in our communities.To proactively address these issues by working closely with communities, partner agencies and local organisations, support victims as well as educate men and young boys about the consequences of certain behaviours and attitudes.
