Following public consultation in 2022 the Council adopted a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Biodiversity Net Gain at its Cabinet meeting on 10th January. This SPD provides further guidance for developers, applicants and ecological consultants on how planning applications can satisfy the requirement for delivering Biodiversity Net Gain within Hertsmere.
Its aim is to ensure that development within the county provides an increase in biodiversity post development compared to the conditions on the site prior to the new development.
The adopted version of the Council’s Supplementary Planning Document on Biodiversity Net Gain and a Consultation Statement prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations (2012), can be found on this page.
