Hertsmere residents keen to brush up on their internet skills, or even take the online plunge, can learn how to stay e-safe with our free beginner’s talk.
We're hosting an ‘Online Safety for Beginners’ talk in November to help people learn how to protect themselves online.
The course is a gentle introduction to online security, where you will be shown how to minimise exposure to potentially harmful attacks, virus protection, how to spot fake emails and helpful hints and tips on how to stay safe online.
Cllr Christian Gray, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, said: “Technology is moving at such a quick pace that it can be hard to keep up with it, but you don’t have to feel vulnerable online.
“This talk is designed to offer practical solutions to our communities who may feel unsure online on how they can keep their information secure and protect themselves from malicious emails, viruses and potential risks.
“The community safety team here in Hertsmere has been working closely with the Community Security Trust (CST) and the police to offer safety talks on different subjects for our residents, so I would encourage people to come along to learn more about how to protect themselves.”

The safety talk is being coordinated by the Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership (CSP) in partnership with the Community Security Trust's (CST) SAFE Programme.
CST is a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and related threats. The SAFE Programme was established in 2019 to help communities in the UK to access relevant security advice. SAFE shares the CST’s security knowledge with groups outside the Jewish community that are vulnerable to violence, extremism or hate crime.
