Environmental Health offers a number of in-house food and health & safety related courses for both members of the public and other regulatory officers.
Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene
The course is suitable for food handlers in a catering or retail environment.
The course objective is to provide knowledge and understanding of:
- The importance of food hygiene
- The importance of good hygiene practice e.g. time and temperature control, personal hygiene, cleaning and disinfection etc
- Food safety hazards and how to avoid or control them e.g. cross contamination, food poisoning
- Legal responsibilities including food safety management systems (i.e. documented procedures)
The course costs £70 per delegate and a certificate is awarded if you successfully pass the exam.

Day time courses are held throughout the year on an ad-hoc basis. If you are interested in attending a day time course please get in touch.

Safer Food Better Business Workshop
The Food Standards Agency has developed a pack called 'Safer Food, Better Business' (SFBB) to help you comply with the law, which can be downloaded for free from the Food Standards Agency website.
The pack will save you having to produce your own system, it is jargon free and easy to use. It covers cooking, cleaning, chilling, cross contamination and management procedures.
We run workshops that provide advice and guidance on how to correctly complete the SFBB pack.
The cost of the course is £45 inc.VAT.

Delegates will need to have their SFBB pack to use during the workshop. If a new pack is needed, we can provide one for you at a cost of £10, but you will need to arrange to collect the pack from the Civic Offices in Borehamwood.

Speciality workshops
Throughout the year we offer a number of workshops which are aimed at regulatory officers and also people working within the specialist fields covering both Food and Health & Safety matters.
Our training sessions for regulators are run via Microsoft Teams.
If you are a regulator and would be interested in receiving information about any up-coming sessions please get in touch.
On an ad hoc basis we also run additional workshops for those working within food businesses.
Previous workshops specifically for food businesses have included: E.Coli, Allergens, How to improve your Food Hygiene Rating, Home Caterers and Handling alleged food poisoning complaints.

All courses and workshops are priced individually. Confirmation of your bookings are made once payment is received and please note the payment is non-refundable.
Once we have confirmed space is available on your chosen course you will receive a link to make a secure online payment.
If you are making the payment on behalf of a delegate please ensure you include the delegates name or the business name into the payment options, so we can link your booking.
If you require an invoice please advise at the time of booking.
If you need to cancel your booking a refund is made at the discretion of the course coordinator; however if we need to cancel a course then a full refund will be granted.
