Mayor of Hertsmere

The Mayor is the first citizen of the borough and is elected to the post by fellow Councillors at the Annual Meeting of the Council each year. The role of the Mayor is a non-political position. 

In addition to chairing Full Council Meetings, the Mayor attends many different types of functions.  These can include civic functions, receiving dignitaries, attending formal dinners, church services, opening events, talking to clubs and societies and visiting schools.  The Mayor has a deputy to stand in if they are unavailable.  The Mayor’s correct title is “The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Hertsmere.”

The Mayor of Hertsmere for 2024/25 is Cllr Richard Butler

Cllr Butler. cropped jpgRichard has lived in Borehamwood his whole life and was first elected to Hertsmere Borough Council in 2011 and was elected to Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council in 2007 at the age of 21.  He has served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Town Council and Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere.  Richard represents the Borehamwood South division of Hertfordshire County Council and is a respected member.  He loves to serve the community.

 

 

 

The Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere for 2024/25 is Cllr Parveen Rani

 

 

Parveen has a longstanding dedication to public service and community Cllr Rani.cropped jpgengagement, with a rich background in entrepreneurship and education.  Recently serving as the cabinet member for Street Scene, Parks, Leisure and Culture, Parveen has played a pivotal role in enhancing local amenities and cultural life in the community.  Her career in politics is distinguished by her active involvement in local governance and her role as a school governor.  She is delighted to serve the community and contribute her expertise as Deputy Mayor.

 

 

 

 

How to invite The Mayor to an event

The Mayor is invited to hundreds of engagements every year. If you would like them to attend an event, please make a request as soon as possible. The Mayor tries to fulfil as many engagements as they can.

If the Mayor cannot attend, the Deputy Mayor will be asked to. Once your engagement has been accepted, you will receive confirmation.
