All collections in a week following a public holiday will take place a day later. For example, a Monday collection will take place on Tuesday and a Friday collection will take place on Saturday, unless you are notified otherwise.

You can download the waste collection calendar 2024.

What bins should I have?

Download our guide to Recycling in Hertsmere (pdf, 3.98MB) for full details of our kerbside waste and recycling service.

Every house should have a black bin, brown bin and a green bin (if subscribed to garden waste collections).

All bins are collected over a two week period, on the same day each week:

  • Week 1 - black bin
  • Week 2 - green bin and brown bin

Please place bins on your property boundary by 6am on the day of your collection.

Please note: the collection days stated are for houses only. If you live in a flat or property with communal bin stores please contact us directly. The same applies to school buildings and trade/commercial premises.

Assisted collections

If you find it difficult to put your bin out on your boundary for collection due to age or medical reasons and don't have anyone else in your household to do it for you, we can help. Request an assisted collection (pdf, 81kb).
